Best cooling option for an i7 on MAXIMUS VII Hero, fan or water cooling ?

Hi Guys,

What would be the best solution for cooling a i7 4790k on MAXIMUS VII Hero in a 450D Corsair midcase.

some people say the Noctua NH-D15 is the best fan option ?

What about the Corsair H110 280mm Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler ?

I really don't know what way to go so any help from you techs would be much appreciated ....

Their are other options than the Noctua, but they all cost about the same for the same performance in noise levels and cooling. A prime example is the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3.

The best option would be a custom water loop, however that is a very expensive choice and requires quite a bit of knowledge to build and maintain.
The 2nd best option, in my opinion is the noctua you mentioned, it's much cheaper and has a far longer lifespan.
The corsair you mentioned, while not a bad choice it is somewhat more expensive but will give slightly more cooling but isn't as silent as the noctua. The major downside would be the much lower lifespan, typically 2-3 years, compared to the 5-10 years of the noctua.

E: I guess Corsair offers up to 5 years warranty on the high end coolers, which isn't bad but it's still less than noctua.
