Would appreciate any help to try to get this under 800...
it is a build for my wife. currently she is only playing one game "vindictus" on my rig
would like to be able to run something like this on high settings
http://black-desert.com/
http://us.bladeandsoul.com/en/
no plans for overclocking, primarily for gaming, media
already have a 1TB HDD somewhere..

i was thinking maybe just going with the 750 instead of the 960 and get myself a 980
Also would prefer one retailer..so i can go pick it all up at once..or get them to assemble it..like NCIX

Solution
it's not that much of a loss, for this build you'll likely never see 100% cpu usage anyway, unless you decide to get something more demanding, or video encoding. even still, the 4460 is very capable

Thats overkill. 750 ti will do the job more than enough.

Try this, http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/PqmNZL (the pieces changed to be bought from NCIX cost $3.54 more) The CPU, GPU and SSD you might have to buy from the cheapest places because the price difference for them would put you over the price limit by $53.67 if you were to buy them from NCIX.

Yes I know, but futureproofing...if i disregard the future
maybe i should just get a G3258 giver her my 560..
she will not be happy...lol..

i keep setting out to build something under 800 but end up over 1k..
i am starting to think it is impossible close to the specs i want

i guess the only way to cut cost significantly is the GPU..

hey, how future-proof was your 286 AT from 1985? not very, eh? so why would anything built today be future-proof?

you could knock a hundred off if you went i3 instead of i5, and another $50 off if you scale back the power supply. the SSD is nice to have, but those things drop in price so fast it's almost criminal. can you get away with 128G for a year? that's another $50 saved.

where's the OS?

Had to cut out the SSD unfortunately, but this build has room for upgrades in the future.

EDIT: For whatever reason, you're deciding not to overclock. Didn't read that, my bad.

under budget, smaller SSD is big enough for OS/apps and a few small games like the ones she will be playing.

UPDATE: the PSU isn't available from NCIX so i changed the PSU and the case is micro atx

ok 64 GB SSD is barely enough for the OS, you'll want more than that. and why do you keep recommending Z97 with a locked CPU, and AMD GPU. the only benefits of Z97 are not going to be realized in any way.

i wasn't disputing the choice of GPU, but the motherboard chipset. the only benefit of Z97 over H97 is the ability to overclock, and the ability for SLI. so it doesn't go with the choice of a locked CPU and an AMD GPU.

and for that matter, the performance of an AMD card might be greater at this range, but so is the power consumption and heat generated. for a build like this where the graphic demand is lower, you're best off going with something efficient and cool and hence, quiet.

that's including rebates, and it's still over budget. also, OP requested that all parts be from the same vendor (preferrably NCIX).

you could add a 450 in order to support future upgrades a little. but the TDP rating on the card is only 60 Watts, and the i5 says 84 watts, but those figures are estimated for full load. generally you'll use much less. so even at max load, you're nowhere near capacity.
