Firstly, I'm terribly sorry if I'm not meant to post things like this here, but I'm at the end of my tether. :(

I would like to start of by saying that I am unable to request any assistance from Intel, because no matter what I do, their site prevents me from asking for help there. :??:

I've come here to ask for help, as I've had problems with my laptop before and I usually find fixes here. And the community in general seems friendly and willing to help. :D

Okay, I'm really rubbish with computers and the like, and this might be a long one, but here goes:

I have a Samsung 300E series laptop with 4GB RAM, Intel Core i5 2.5Ghz, and integrated Intel HD3000 graphics.

I was on my laptop yesterday and decided that I should check the Intel site to see if there would be a new update for my graphics driver. I went here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24696&lang=eng&ProdId=3319

And downloaded the .exe. I've done this before on numerous occasions, and things usually go swimmingly. However, this time, in the midst of the installation, an error appeared saying something like "one or more drivers failed to install. Please try again". My screen resolution then changed suddenly from 1366x768 to 1024x768. When I attempted to change my screen resolution I noticed that I now only had the option to change from 1024x768 to 800x600. :??:

After that, I opened my device manager to see if there was a problem with my integrated graphics, and saw that the display tab had vanished. I attempted to reinstall the update, but to no avail. It now came with the error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements from installing the software". I've tried installing older drivers as well, but the exact same error occurs.

Oh, and I've even tried the Intel Driver Update Utility. After searching for drivers, I'm given the option to install the Intel Chipset Device Software, but this fails every time I try installing it.

Thank you for reading my post, and any help would be hugely appreciated. :D

Thanks guys,

Calvin :)

Thanks for the response. :D A new problem has now emerged. System Restore is activated, however, when I try to do it, I get a message after my laptop has restarted that says "system restore has failed to replace file" And then tells me which file didn't replace (It's an Avast! antivirus file). Reinstalling Windows would hopefully be a final resort as I don't have a Windows disk. :(

For windows 7 you can download the disk image from digital river, and for windows 8/8.1 you can get that direct from Microsoft.

Now you will then need to download and install the drivers (video (also called vga), audio, chipset, lan, and any other drivers you may have (like usb 3.0, sd card, wifi, Bluetooth, etc).

If system restore is not helping your problem then a reinstallation is likely the only way to truly fix it.
