Hi,

Just got my new pc today. The OS (Win 8) came installed on the SSD (c), and I am going to have everything else (besides Norton), on d.
So, I went to c / users / me / right click downloads / properties / changed location to d / apply
That went fine, no problems, then I did the same for the next folder, videos, except I got the message :
Do you want to move all the files from the old location onto the new location?
Old location c/users/me/videos
New location: d
We recommend moving the files so that programs needing to access the folder's content can do so

OK, I click yes. Then I get:

[/Do you want to redirect folder 'Videos' into another system folder documents located at D? If you proceed with redirection you will not be able to separate them or restore default location.

OK, this sounds like something bad might happen.

So I have created a folder for each 'thing' (One for documents, one for desktop etc), and have set the location to that.
Is that OK, or is there a better way?

Thanks

EDIT: After I clicked apply to the new destinations, they disappeared off C and their icons appear in my created folders in D, EXCEPT desktop.
Not sure what to do for desktop, and is this what should have happened?

Right click on the folder Icon you want on desktop in D and select : Send to Desktop (create shortcut). You set it up so all downloads go to D (which is good it's how I have it) but you need to create shortcuts on the desktop by doing what I said.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer, Heironious. However, why do this?
Is it so that whenever I download something I put it in the folder on my desktop and it gets sent to the folder on D, thus making it quicker than dragging it to D?

EDIT: I presume the lack of advising to do anything other than make shortcuts means I didn't mess what I did up?
