I would like to know if my motherboard can support the 6400 speed ram.

My motherboard is a Dell ORY007 (Socket 75) motherboard. The memory installed is ddr2 5300. The max ram this machine takes is 4 gb unless I upgrade the motherboard.

Therefore, can I buy two pairs (4 x 1gb) of ddr2 6400 ram? Will this motherboard support the 6400 speed?

I think its best you buy a new motherboard and cpu (and ram) the DDR2 is not only considered ancient nowadays, but is obsolete and hasn't been manufactured for years.

If your motherboard specifications don't list that speed of RAM as being supported, I wouldn't chance it in that system. Furthermore, buying 8GB of DDR2 is not very cost-effective.
