Yesterday I installed a windows update, a few hours later I started playing a game of CS:GO on my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. All of the sudden I was starting to get random static noises, at first it was only a little bit, but it gradually got worse until it was static constantly and I could barely hear sound, I was using earphones at the time, and eventually the sound even started bypassing the earphones and my earphones stopped working completely. After my game I restarted and when I started up again, there is a x at the bottom of my sound icon, and it says "No audio output device detected". I looked through device manager and my audio driver, Realtek High Definition Audio Driver was gone. (http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=SVE15115FXS&upd_id=7555&os_group_id=6) All I have left is a few other drivers that don't actually do anything, and this one driver which I installed for some reason - can't remember with a yellow question mark on it. I tried uninstalling thta, but my sound still does not return. I tried scanning for hardware changes and nothing happens, I've tried reinstalling my audio driver but it doesn't show up, system restore doesn't work either. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME!

no, it doesnt say that, but the thing is, for some odd reason it kind of fixes itself automatically, I randomly restarted it again, and the audio was there, but I started getting to static while playing a game and now the audio is broken.

I'm having some trouble with Valve games in general when it comes to sound. Does for example youtube work? I have some bluetooth headsets though. For my bluetooth headsets it helps disconnecting and connecting again. Maybe if you unplug and plug you headsets in again will help? I have also had some wired headsets that just had a bad plug that you have to rotate a little bit to find ultimate conduction for the plug.

NO, unplugging the headset or anything does help, normally what happens, is as im playing a game I get abit of static, and slowly that transitions into a louder consistent static noise, and te sound stops working, after I restart my audio driver goes missing so idk...

Try using some free softwares like slimdrivers free or driver booster and check for driver updates, uninstall the previously installed audio driver and restart your comp before doing this. If it is actually a driver issue, this might help.
