Ok, Long and complicated issue here with multiple workarounds.

The main issue - I have a database on a Seagate Cheetah SAS SCSI Hard drive that I need to get off that drive. It was the only HDD on a Dell Poweredge 2900 Server. The reason I cannot access the server is because the OS is autobooting a "Task Sequence Wizard" and is prompting me to search the network for user information/network rights (assuming).

I have two paths I can take.

1) Purchase a SAS/SATA controller and the correct SFF-8482 to SATA Converter, connect the drive and configure the boot settings to pull the data off and transfer to a new machine.

2) Modify the bootstrap.ini file to boot properly and pull the data off the server itself.

What is the easier option here, and are there any tutorials on this stuff? I have been searching for a while for a fix and cannot seem to find a set process for either option above.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to help.

Have you considered installing a spare hard drive to your server, installing an OS to it and booting to that drive. The OS you install doesn't need to be activated, it just needs to run long enough to get a look at your "failing" hard drive.
