Random reboots, could it be a loose psu cable?

Hi, it's been happening more recently and more frequently, it seems to happen more during intense gaming, it just reboots, it's done it during YouTube or normal operation but not as much. It's almost as if it needs to warm up first before it starts to crash. My question is, at one point during all the trouble shooting I noticed the psu kettle plug was loose, when I moved it it sparked and shut down. I wonder if I loosened it after the crashes during trouble shooting or if it was the cause of them in the first place. Is it likely that a loose ac cable going into the psu could cause fluctuations in power and cause my system to crash? Has anyone else ever experienced this? I've tried one graphics card at a time as I have 2, I've tried one stick of ram at a time in different slots, I've reseated the cpu and reapplied paste, I've checked monitored temps on cpu mb and both gpus and everything seems fine, I've also wiped the hd and did a fresh install with latest drivers for all hardware and BIOS updates. I've not had a crash since I plugged the cable into the back properly but I still need to test it with a bit of intense gaming to be certain the power cable was the problem. It's also plugged into a surge protector, I wonder if that could cause any problems? I have a corsair hx750 psu, which has been fine for a long time and removing one card to reduce demand on the psu was still producing crashes. I've checked the psu with a multi meter and the villages were fine too. The psu barely gets hot as the fan kicks in sometimes when it gets warm which isn't often.

Solution
I'd put it all on just dumb luck. Sometimes shit happens. I bet it was the loose ac cable. It probably tripped an internal breaker in the psu causing it to short out like that. I don't think it's the psu 750 watts is plenty to run what your setup. If you want to be on the extra safe side and make sure none of the fans shorted/ are working properly. I'd download hwtemps or realtemps to keep an eye on your cpu/gpu temps assuming your bios doesn't already have a temp gauge to begin with.

system specs. It could be anything from hard drive failing to psu pooping out. Along with the possibility you're just not generating enough power for what an sli set up? Gotta go by the rails voltage max wattage and amps please.

I apologise, I'm new to this.

Specs are:
AMD FX 9590 4.7 (5 TURBO)
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz (running at 1333 whilst trouble shooting)
2 x EVGA GTX 660
1 x Samsung 250gb 840 Evo Pro
1 x 7200rpm 500 gb Samsung hdd
Corsair H110 CPU Cooler
2x 120mm fans at front 1x 120mm at back and the 2x 140mm fans that come with the H110
Corsair HX750 PSU

I've checked psu calculators and they say that I'm within the recommended wattage, plus I've tried taking 1 gpu out reducing it further by 160w to help eliminate the PSU being too weak.

@Hexit, I've reset the mobo with the jumper, I'm on windows 8.1, the crashes are a new thing so I don't think it's this setting, even the ram is under clocked at the moment and Jeff at what the motherboard set it as at 1333.

Thanks, yeah, I have evga precision x installed to monitor gpu tempos during gaming and the asus AI Suite to monitor cpu/mb temperatures and voltages and fan speeds. I've spent days tinkering, reapplied thermal paste to gpus and cpu, got rid of dust, tested 1 gpu at a time, 1 stick of ran at a time in different ports, even tried disconnecting unnecessary usb devices like the k70 rgb I just added to the system, that thing is nice but they're still working on problems with the software and bios, it's a bit unreliable, but that's another story. I'll spend a few days testing and if it doesn't reboot I'll select the best answer and close the thread, I'm not able to get to the pc right now so will have to commence tomorrow.
