GPU Upgrade on old system

Hello,
I am planing to buy new GPU and my system is:
Intel Q9650 @ 4.0GHz and Sapphire AMD 7850 (at the moment)
Will my CPU handle 980 or 970 GTX?
Can my Chieftec 500w PSU support new GPU?
What is the best newer GPU that can support my CPU without necking?
Can i fit them in my case ? ( Gigabyte Poseidon 310)

your psu may support it .. but .. that cpu is gonna bootleneck the above mentioned gpu..

Yeah, I agree. Unless you plan on moving to a newer platform and just want a faster card to take along, you would be better off with something in the GTX 960/R9-280 class if you want to avoid CPU bottleneck.

I'd get a better PSU too - from tiers 1, 2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

Your case spec - http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2677#sp - doesn't give a max vga card length. You'll have to measure it up or see if you can get the info from Gigabyte.

And yeah the Q9650 will bottleneck the gtx970. I think you should stick with your 7850.
