Hello I recently bought a custom made PC from NCIX. I only ordered 8gb thinking it'd be enough but I had low memory issue earlier playing dying light + like 2 things open. I was wondering if I could order another 4gb stick of the ram I got http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145346 (that is the ram) and put it in one of my slots. I got 2 4gb sticks in 2/4 at the moment and the slot I can use is 3. Does it matter if I put it there. Also Would I need to change anything in BIOS ect, or just plug it in there and start up and my comp should notice 12gb. '

Thanks.

Specs:
MOBO: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97E/
GPU: MSI GTX 970 4gb 4g gaming golden edition
CPU: I7 4790k @4.5ghz
RAM: - Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit for NCIX PC

If so, can someone specifically make sure and post a link of another 4gb ram stick I could order?

Thanks.

Solution
Yes, and unlike XMP based DARM the Fury sticks operate off PnP, simply plug them in and the set themselves up for you, the CL10 is sort of a negative for 1600 sticks, but setup is easy ;)

As long as it's the same capacity, speed, type etc, it should be plug and play.

If you mismatch speeds/timings they will usually still work fine, but everything will work at the lowest speed.

Buying the identical ram you already have is a good a guarantee as any.

It might or might not, there are no guarantees. The forums are full of people adding other DRAM and even the same exact model (as you propose) and having problems, oft times if they don't want to play they can be helped w/ timing and voltage adjustments (have a bunch of Best Solutions for helping folks with this ;) )

It's a crapshoot, it might and it might not - if it doesn't work straight up, you might get them to play with voltage or timing adjustments - there are no guarantees (don't know a single DRAM maker that will offer a guarantee when mixing packages

Mixining packages? Im mixing packages? Get them? I got my comp already and I got 2 Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit for NCIX PC atm and I want to order literally the exact same stick from NCIX and put it in slot 3. Wondering if that works and if I just plug it in and startup and its all good.

Each package of DRAM (of multiple sticks) has sticks that are tested to play together, you can go right to the production line and pull sticks off of it consecutively and they may not play together, that's why they test and whay quite often a 4 stick package sosts more than buying two 2 stick packages, it takes more testing to find four that play together. So it might work or it might not, if it doesn't might be facing return shipping, RMA fees, restocking fees, etc
