I currently have most of the parts for my first build. I think the 6300 is a really cpu, but others tell me that most i3's can preform better for gaming. I'm new to pc and have researched quite a bit, but im still not so familiar with different branded parts and criteria that make them better. So should I switch to an i3? My budget is around $450-500 and I will use it for mainly gaming.

Parts so far:

FX 6300
Cant decide if I should go with the r7 260x or gtx 750 ti
HyperX Beast (2 x 4GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1600
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
Western Digital blue 1 TB

Have you already purchased anything already, or are you still in the planning phase? I had a hard time working a i3 into a $450 budget, but a Pentium provides similar performance, it just doesn't utilize hyperthreading like the i3 does.
