I recently bought a new computer advertised with 1000 GB (1 TB) of hard drive space. I have a Windows (C) drive with 149 GB of space, and a Data (D) drive with 1.65 TB of space.

I'm a bit confused. Everything I download and install is saved to the windows one with 149 GB of space, I can't rely on that drive alone. Is the data one another one I can use? Or is it something else? Sorry, I'm really bad with computers. If it is another drive I can use, how do I make my computer start downloading and installing stuff to that drive, and how do I move my downloads to my other drive.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there TrashWithComputers,

Most probably C: and D: are partitions not separate drives.
Installations: When installing a given program, you will always be asked where you want to install it. Just change the location from C:something to D:something. In case you want to move the current programs that are on C:, you will have to uninstall them first and reinstall them on D:.
Downloads: Depending on the internet browser, there may be different ways of changing the downloads location but should be something like: Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Downloads -> Change Downloads location.

Also, here are some ways of freeing some HDD storage space: http://www.howtogeek.com/125923/7-ways-to-free-up-hard-disk-space-on-windows/

Hope this will...

You can always use r.a.i.d function but it can be risky (basically making both hdds one) Also you can change the directories of where the files are installed and downloaded to the second hard drive
