Looking to upgrade my £577 build. What should I focus on?

Hello,

I recently built this:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/McGhZL

and I was wondering what my focus should be on if I decide to upgrade. I play a lot of Guild Wars 2 which is a very CPU-heavy game, sometimes going to 10-20 FPS on very crowded areas, which is understandable, but if I wanted to mitigate my framerate loss and make the overall performance better. I'm really unsure of which components I should upgrade (I'm not sure if the huge framerate loss from a pretty stable 60 FPS to 10-20 FPS is due to the CPU or another component). I was thinking of buying a new GPU, such as the R9 290/290x or if I should cross-fire using a new GPU and motherboard (the current motherboard's second PCI-e slot is blocked by my GPU) or upgrade my CPU. The reason I'm concerned with the case is because it's currently a bit short for space, the case side panel is pressing against the cables attached to the top of my GPU as seen in this album: http://imgur.com/a/RLzXN

Apologies for the horrible quality, I'll see if I can get a better picture tomorrow. It currently isn't an issue, but it may be for taller video cards unless I get a larger case. I'm also concerned with the airflow, though the temperatures right now are pretty good. Here's a picture of how my computer is currently positioned, in case I need to adjust it to assist airflow: http://i.imgur.com/YXq4T7o.jpg

Please tell me what you think, even if your thoughts are upgrading wouldn't be worth it. I'll be happy with any feedback.

Thank you for reading.

I think the best upgrade for you would be the CPU.
If you by any chance could sell your CPU and mobo and get an H97 mobo and the i5 4460, that would be a lot better for your gaming. And if you have a bigger budget, even a Z97 mobo and the i5 4690K that will allow you to overclock.

Thank you for your response!

I do apologise, my knowledge on this sort of thing is limited, so I have a couple questions.

Will upgrading my CPU mitigate the frame rate loss from largely populated areas or increase the maximum framerate? With this in mind, I'm happy with 60 FPS since my monitor is 60hz.

What makes the second motherboard you mentioned better than the first?

Again, apologies for my lack of knowledge.

Here`s the thing - there are CPUs that allow for overclocking, and others that don`t.
If you want to overclock, you will need a K-version CPU, and a Z97 mobo that allows for OC.
If you will not OC, you can get any non-K CPU and a H97 or even B91 mobo (the H97 is slightly better for gaming if you don`t OC.

What`s your upgrade budget? Also, are you from UK?

If you can get something like this, it would improve your gaming in a big way:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£183.08 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£117.03 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £300.11
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This is the best you can get in your budget, and with a CPU cooler later on, you can even overclock.
We can also go with something like this, which is still a big improvement:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor (£155.94 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£58.52 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £214.46

Looks good! If the budget needs to be exceeded by a few pounds it's all good if it means a considerable improvement. I'll definitely consider what you have suggested. Thanks so much!
