ACPI temp stuck at 102c, does this throttle CPU?

The ACPI THRM temp sensor has gone buggy and stuck at 102c. The CPU temps are fine.

The fan is on full power all the time, and it *looks like* the CPU is being throttled. CPUz shows it at 1197 9x133. It's a i5 450m 2.4Ghz. It doesn't change, no matter what I do.

But when I run Windows Experience, the CPU scores fine. I tried rendering 1080p video, but the frequency stays the same. QCI reads correctly.

I've set everything to 100% in power management, but it doesn't help.

1. I unfortunately dont see any bios options to disable speedstep. Is there any other way?

Have you tried other temp software like Real Temp GT or Core Temp? Could be that you software is not reading the sensor properly. The fact that your fan is on full is a good sign that it is overheating but this depends on how you have the fan curve setup in your BIOS too.

As for throttling it depends on the TJmax of your CPU when it does this. What model is your CPU other than i5? Is it a Sandy Bride, Ivy Bridge, Haswell, or what?

Just to be safe I would double check your application of thermal paste. How much did you put on? Less is more.

Yes, I've tried other apps.

Its first generation i5 450m

Its not a problem with the CPU temps. Its ACPI stuck on 102c. Its not actually hot. There's something wrong with the sensor. It never changes anymore. Just stuck on 102c.

This is triggering the fan to go on full blast, which is bearable, but *the problem is* that it appears to be throttling the CPU to half... According to real temp and cpuz anyways....
