best laptops for $500-650

If you are in that price range and you want ti to kind of be a jack of all trades master of none, just look for one with an amd APU in it (like an A10). The fact is in this price range you will never get a "gaming laptop" and since you have a pc fulfilling that need, there is no need to drop the 1k for a decent one.

APU's are both GPU's and CPU's in one package (though obviously not as proficient at either task.) These APU's are not going to win any awards for graphical performance, but they do provide a compelling gaming argument at a decent price, and since there is no true dedicated GPU you can even get some decent battery life out of a laptop that has one in it. I would suggest an A10 laptop from someone like Hp (I have included a...

ThinkPads are the best sub-$1000 laptops when it comes to productivity IMO. However, you'll get vastly more performance and mileage out of a $500 - $650 custom desktop PC than you will from a laptop at that price.

Also, if you want a decent gaming experience in 1080p, you should just avoid most laptops under $1000. However, a custom gaming rig can be built pretty easily inside of the price range you've listed.

The second HP is probably the most compelling of them. The 750 gb hard drive gives a lot of storage options, 6 GB of ram is decent enough for low-end to mid tier gaming, and it has the added functionaility of a touch screen which is always cool. It helps that HP is a well respected name and you get the beats speakers as well. All that combined with the kaveri A10 APU should be able to run games on low settings at very playable framerates.

Hopes this helps and best of luck to you!!!!
