I am a noob, so does everything make sense. Do I have a good enough power supply for the system? Also will the system fit that case?

that is a very solid system and all will work together wonderfully.

nice choices, clearly you have been reading the forum :D

if i have to nit pick something it would be to get ram at CL 9 or lower. not a huge difference but what is recommended. that is about all i can see but that is only nit picking just cause :)

The build looks pretty good. I would suggest some faster RAM, though. CAS10 1600MHz RAM isn't really a great match for a Devil's Canyon CPU. I would look for something more like 2133MHz - 2400MHz. What games do you plan on playing and at what resolution? I would also research the difference between the GTX 980 and GTX 970 for the games and resolution you will be playing. It's likely the GTX 970 will work very well for you while saving a considerable amount of money.

that psu is plenty of power for the system. it would only need to be higher if he wishes to sli in the future and then it would need to be 800w+ to run 2 980's but really one 980 is plenty for now and by the time he would want more power, there will be 4 generations of gpu's better than a second 980 would offer and it will probably be just as power sipping as the 970/980 are now

Im pretty sure that the mobo will be good with that cpu and the power supply should work too because the recommended power consumption for the 980 is 500 watts but who knows im a noob too :D

I am playing at 1080p. Also could you link the ram are talking about. Is it better to have 1 8gb of ram or 2 4gbs? Thanks

Could you link me a power supply. I would do it but I really suck at picking parts. Thanks

I think you'll find in the benchmarks that the GTX 970 is very strong at 1080p. If you want to spend the extra money getting the GTX 980 then go ahead. I would check the benchmarks first, though.

It's hard to recommend components without knowing what country you're shopping for parts in. Assuming the USA, here's a very nice CAS 9 2133MHz RAM kit:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM

And here is a nice CAS 10 2400MHz kit:

G.SKILL Trident X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-8GTX

It's best to get a matched pair so the RAM can run in dual-channel mode. A single stick of RAM won't perform as well running in single-channel mode.

sounds like you are panicking a little bit :D the motherboard is very good and it the built in wifi won't be any different than a wifi card in a pci slot.

as for the power supply, ask yourself the question, "am i going to want a second video card to play at 4k or on multiple high res monitors?" if the answer is no, then you won't ever need a second gpu in that system and thus won't need a different power supply. if you do think you might be trying to game at 4k or on multiple monitors at 1440p or higher, then you could get a high power psu now to avoid having to get a new one later. honestly, the 980 will ensure 1080p on ultra settings for a number of years to come. you won't want a second card for at least 4 years!! by this time, the 980 will be old news and a new single card will be a better deal than an old out of production card.

that is really, the only question you have to ask yourself and i would just stick with this build as is. if you wish to change the psu, where are you shopping from? if out of the US, then an online store we can look at would be helpful so we can see what is available to you.

Ok I changed it what do you think now? Can I play witcher 3 on ultra? If I wanted wifi on this computer should I get onboard or external adapter for wifi? Is their any changes that you would make? Would you say that this is a perfect system for the price. Thank you so much.

I am in US, if I wanted to play witcher 3 on ultra would you say that this is the best system? If not would you mind sharing with me your idea of a perfect system. My budget is 1600$. Thank you so much. I would do all this myself but I am clueless when it comes to building a good system.

I, personally, wouldn't recommend the MSI PC Mate motherboard. The motherboard in your first post is a higher quality board that also includes onboard Wi-Fi. There won't really be a performance difference between on-board Wi-Fi and an adapter, but at this budget I would just get a nice motherboard that includes Wi-Fi. You are saving a considerable amount going down to the GTX 970, so you can invest a little more in a nice motherboard.

exactly, no need to second guess the first build. it is very good as is and other than trying to lower the cost on it, there is no need to change it any. dropping to a 970 will save some bucks if you wish to and will still offer top quality 1080p gaming for a few years before even thinking about upgrading.

go with that first build and the cheaper evga superclocked 970 you picked (if you wish to lower it) and buy with confidence knowing it is made from top quality parts.

you asked what i would do and for $1600 i would get the 980 and brag every chance i got :D

Ok well in your opinion, what is the best motherboard for 150-230? thanks

I don't see any reason to get anything other than the ASUS Z97-PRO(Wi-Fi ac) you picked in your original post. It's a great motherboard. I've had great luck with Gigabyte and ASUS boards in the past.
