so i just built a new computer and i've gone with an i5-3570 with the stock cooler, when idle i get around 43°c but when watching youtube videos in 1080p 60fps i get around 46-58°c. so needless to say i'm a little worried what the temps would be when i start gaming with it. i'm assuming a graphics card would take some load off the cpu thus lowering the temperature? but im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to pc stuff like this.

You don't need to be worried about your processor temps until they get into the 80*C range and your temps aren't dangerous until they hit 90*C. When gaming the stock cooler will be able to handle your processor, it may be a little loud but it will keep your processor in safe operating range. You will not be able to play much of any games without a graphics card, it's pretty much a prerequisite for any game that isn't flash based. When you get a graphics card you will probably not see a difference in your processor tempss

Thanks for the info, i assumed anything above 67c was bad for the cpu. Also, when i ran prime95 the cpu temps jumped to a little over 80c, is that bad? should i invest in an aftermarket cpu cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO?

Just slightly over 80C is to be expected running prime95 with your stock cooler. It is unlikely that you will put a heavier load on the processor at any given time than prime95. You should wait to answer your question until after you have purchased a graphics card and played some of your favorite games. When you are playing your games, if you notice that your cooling fan is much louder than you would like it to be then consider purchasing a new one. The Cooler Master 212 Evo, 212 Plus, and Cooler Master T4 are all essentially the same cooler, can be had for between $20 and $30 and are considered great introductory air coolers for aspiring overclockers. It is certainly a good cooler. You don't need that big of a cooler however, even gaming, because you are not overclocking. For you an sub $30 dollar cooler will work, just make sure it has copper heat pipes, is reviewed well (and if you have a side window looks cool!). An inexpensive aftermarket cooler will keep your processor in ideal operating temperatures for longer periods of time while usually being more silent.
The Cooler Master Tx3 is easy to install, works very well and can usually be found for about $18. Sometimes less with promos and mail in rebates.
