Need help fixing a hard drive issue.

I installed Windows 8.1 on a New drive. Didn't like it. Removed partition with windows 7 disk tried to reinstalled windows 7. Disk shows for minute in selecting space to install to then the loading wheel shows up and then it says disk driver missing and the drive is no longer selectable. Sometimes I can select it and the install gets stuck on 0 percent and gives me a error code.

Which is a corruption error? The drive shows up half the time in cmd that I use on the install disk. Both the windows 7 and 8 disc have this same issue.

Did I ruined my hard drive or can it be fixed?

Hey there, jamthefab!

I suggest writing zeros to the drive (fully erasing it). This is a low level format that will fully wipe everything on your drive and it is the recommended thing to do when an OS is to be reinstalled or any boot drive errors appear.
You can perform this using your HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool or formatting tool, which you should be able to find on their website.
However, here's a link from our knowledge base with more details about the low level format procedure: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=1ppoQB
You can even use our Data LifeGuard diagnostics tool if you are not able to find the one from your HDD manufacturer.

Hope this helps you! Keep me posted! :)

I have a western digital drive but I can't download something the requires windows to run as windows won't install. And I don't have any other drive.

I can't delete the partitions as the windows disk only detects the drive half the time and when it does and I do try to delete partitions it fails and the drive is no longer there with a no drives were found message.
