Hello, I recently bought new GPU - MSI R9 280 and I am happy with it, but I tried Unigine Heaven and I got these scores.
I have seen 5870 getting better scores in 1080p, I was running stock - 972MHz on core, 1250MHz on memory, I tried overclocking it but the FPS drops rapidly when I do.
Is my CPU bottlenecking the GPU? I doubt so, but when I benchmark, all the four cores are on 100% usage all the time. Also when FPS drops in some more demanding scenarios, the GPU usage does so, is that supposed to be this way? I thought it should be the other way around (Lower FPS, higher GPU usage since it needs to work more to render the animations). All my clocks and tempts are stable throught the test though (GPU maximal temperature - 60°C, almost never hits that number, CPU max tempts- 65°C, heard that my specific CPU's maximal safe temberature is 62°C, but I doubt so, that is really low number)
My next idea is RAM not keeping up with the rest, I am getting 8GB kit soon.
My specs:
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-E51
GPU: MSI R9 280 3G
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition (at 3,5GHz)
RAM: Adata 2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz (Downclocked to 1333MHz due to MOBO not supporting 1600 without OC)
PSU: Fortron Hyper 700W
Please note that I am quite a noob to PC troubleshooting, so if I have forgotten something or wrote something stupid, please remind me in the answers.
Thank you Tom's
