I apologize if this may seem like a double post, but I have not found any threads with precisely the same issue, the threads I found only shared similarities, none of which I found could help me.

I recently restored the windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system on my Toshiba notebook to its factory default state following a system slow down.

Unfortunately this did little to solve my problem, as the system regularly hangs for a few seconds every so often.

The incredibly confusing part of the equation, to me personally, is; why is the system so unstable? It's a fresh install of windows (Hard drive was wiped clean during the factory reset) and the laptop has more then enough processing power.

Things I have tried;
- Updating drives
- Installing Windows updates

My specifications are as follows:
CPU: Intel Core i7 3610QM @ 2.30GHz
RAM: 4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
MBOARD: Sadly I am unsure, as the diagnostic program I am using (Speccy) could not identify it.
MONITOR: Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz)
GRAPHICS CARD: 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7670M (Toshiba)
STORAGE: 596GB Hitachi HTS547564A9E384 (SATA)
OPTICAL DRIVES: LKNSJ ROLA3O5 SCSI CdRom Device
TSSTcorp CDDVDW SN-208AB
AUDIO: Realtek High Definition Audio

I appreciate your time and effort in resolving this matter, thanks in advance!

Driver conflicts, a faulty hard drive, or faulty RAM would be the most likely culprits. For the drivers, go to your model's Toshiba support page and make sure you've got all the correct and up-to-date drivers installed. Then try downloading and running Seagate Seatools for Windows and MemTest86. Seatools you can run from Windows and it will work for any brand HDD; make sure you backup your HDD before running any tests on it, SeaTools or otherwise. Run both the long and the short tests. For MemTest you'll need to create a bootable thumbdrive or CD/DVD. Let it run overnight. If you get ANY errors on either test, you'll want to start looking for replacements. If you don't get any errors on either, let us know and we'll go from there.

Since you have Speccy installed, have you had a look at your temperatures? It's possible the CPU could be overheating.

It's also possible, though less likely, that the GPU could be overheating as well.

Another possibility is a failing hard drive. I've seen drives (even though SMART reports no problems) hitch / pause causing the system to freeze sporatically.

Thank you both for your input, I will be sure to run some tests on the hardware and will post the results here. (As soon as possible)
I am not sure what the normal temperature range is for this laptop. Currently the temperatures are as follows;

CPU - 53 degrees Celsius
Motherboard - 55 degrees Celsius
Graphics card - 46 degrees Celsius
Storage device - 40 degrees Celsius

Thanks again.

I have managed to track down the correct driver updates for my machine; sadly, even after applying all 41 driver installations and all windows updates, the system still feels sluggish. Currently downloading the suggested tools to diagnose the hardware.

Lately my wireless connection has been everything but reliable, one moment windows cannot connect to the network for an unknown reason, the next it connects to the network (Or networks) just fine. Does any one know of a utility which can be used to diagnose a wireless card?
