I am upgrading my systems memory from 4 GB to 8 GB and I'm wondering if 1866 will be better than 1600 for heavy gaming, Image Editing and Sound Production. I've read multiple times on the forums here that 1866 wouldn't show a dramatic difference in gaming, but what about Sound Production/Image editing (I use FL Studio and Audacity for sound and GIMP and Photoshop CC for Image Editing if that helps).

Here's my current System specs:
4GB DDR3 1066 MHz
AMD Richland 760k black ed. (Athlon x4 760k)
EVGA NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti Superclocked
MSI A88X-G43 Motherboard

Solution
Higher data rates can help in gaming mminimally - the big gains will be seen elsewhere like in video editing, multi tasking, imaging, VMs, anything that is memory intensive or uses large data sets
the difference would be minimal at best. just get which is cheapest.
if you can get the 1866 for a similar price with the same latency as the 1600 then go for it. if not the 1600 will do fine.

the only time you would see a benefit is if you were using the integrated gpu. your not your using a 750 ti so there is no real benefit to be gained.

Oddly Enough I found 2133 on newegg to be cheaper than 1600 and 1866 (at least for G. Skill). I am also guessing that with this high of a speed I'll want heat sinks correct? Also what brand do you recommend? I really wanted Corsair, but since this is really a budget upgrade and I can get a 2133 kit for a lot cheaper if I go with G. Skill Modules I am leaning towards them, thoughts?

Is this only for gaming though? Because as I mentioned before, I also do a lot of multimedia work as a hobby on this system and I want good performance out of this system for multimedia as well.

I think this has helped answer my question, I just want to make sure before I go out buying some RAM. I use my system for multimedia work as a hobby (High resolution Image editing and High quality sound editing/production mostly) I want top notch performance out of my system so I can enjoy my hobby even more. What you are saying is that the faster speeds of memory like 1866 and 2133 will help improve performance with sound editing and image editing, correct?

mate the speed difference between them (1600/1866)is small enough as to make no real difference regardless of what you do with em. if you had of said earlier that you could go to 2400 my answer would have been different... but hey your sorted now so enjoy your hobby...
