I'm attempting to use an LG TV as a second monitor for my PC, the display works as intended and the speakers used to work but now they do not. On the sound panel, the computer is telling me everything is functioning and it recognizes everything but sound is not coming out of the speakers.
Additionally, there are two icons "NVIDIA HDMI Output (Port 1)" and "NVIDIA HDMI Output (Port 2)" that say they are not plugged in but the Device status says "This device is working properly".

Yeah, I'm using an HDMI cable to connect the TV to the computer.

Yep! I have tried setting it to default device. The visual green bar fluctuates with sound, but nothing is coming out of the speakers themselves.

driver issue or dodgy cable maybe.

I went to my Device Manager and clicked update drivers on all my Sound, video and game controllers as well as Display adapters but they all said they were up to date.
I also used the same chord and hooked it up between my laptop and TV monitor and the speakers worked.

well this is totally weird, maybe try backing up all your important files to an external and re-installer your OS?
