Im trying to install Windows 7 from a USB onto a clean formatted HDD but it comes up saying it needs a driver for the HDD before it can install on it ? Is the driver in a folder on the USB? I cant seem to find it. I thought maybe i had to download a driver for it seperately? Any help would be great thanks

Hi there robert higgs,

You can try the following: "When Windows is asking for driver, just click Cancel. You will be brought back to the welcome screen. At the welcome screen, remove your USB drive, insert it back to DIFFERENT USB PORT. Click Install Now again. The installation process will be like usual. "

Hope this will help,

Hi Brillis I guess I could try and take a photo of the screen Brillis. Im not having much luck but I think I need to partition the drive before anything is that right? So I connected the drive to my working computer but it wont let me shrink the drive in disk management. Great.
D_Know_D i did try that but it didnt work or it wasnt that simple. On the screen I get to there is no Cancel button until youve already gone to browse for the folder containing the driver. Anyway i tried to cancel and switch the usb but sadly there was luck with it.
I NOW SEE THE PROBLEM IS THE WINDOWS INSTALLATION CANT SEE THE DRIVE AND IT ASKS FOR WHERE TO STORE THE INSTALLATION.
THE DRIVE DOES APPEAR IN BIOS.

I worked it out guys thanks for your help but all it need was partitioning. Apparently that is something that must be done, I dont know why. So the problem was It wouldnt let me partition until I brazenly clicked delete disk, that did the trick, it all came up unallocated and then I could create new simple volume. Next time around it started to install normally. Guess I learned something about partitioning drives anyway
