My iPod got stolen is there anyway that I can get it back? I don't know the item i.d. and it's a generation 4

Consider yourself out of luck unless you installed a tracking app (like the one from Apple - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2698) before it got stolen.

Contact your phone carrier and tell them it is stolen.

Nothing more can be done.
