I have a weird Wireless issue that has 2 parts. It pertains to my Envy DV 7 internal Ralink adapter.
Part 1:
When on my home SLOW DSL network it used to work fine locally on my servers . When I attempted a large download from the net and my bandwidth went over 120 KBPS, I would infrequently receive BSODs indicating a bad pool caller. If I switched to a USB network adapter I could download with no issues. Furthermore I could reach speeds exceeding 1.3 MBPS if I connected to my local Cable hotspot without issue.
Part 2:
Recently I found I could no longer connect to my local network with the internal adapter. However. The local adapter works fine on all other networks, except for the issue noted above. I know it is NOT my home network as I can connect easily with USB network adapters. In addition there are 17 other devices (other computers, game consoles and phones) that connect without issue, There are rarely more than 3 or 4 devices on the network at one time, I have reset my router numerous times and tried connecting with all other devices disconnected. I see the network with the internal adapter but when I attempt to connect I get "cannot connect to this network". I have tried both static and assigned IP addresses with no change.
Since the issue is unique to my HP laptop, I am sure the issue is there. Other laptops and my servers connect immediately and use the network with no problems, I believe the issue is with my IP settings or configuration, I have reviewed my settings and nothing "jumps out". I have tried several netsh commands I know to reset my IP configuration but nothing has changed.
I am running a legal activated copy of Windows 8.1 that is up to date, In the past I have been able to successfully connect to my local network while simultaneously connecting to the Internet via an external USB network adapter.
Summary:
My laptop works fine on either the local network or hotspot with an external adapter ( except for part 1 above).
My laptop works fine on the local network with an external USB adapter.
My laptop with internal adapter works fine on external/hotspot networks.
My local network works fine with all devices except for the HP laptop.
Thank You for any suggestions...
