So I have an HP pavilion A6763w. I put in a new hard drive a few months ago and the computer still worked fine. I later decided to get a new processor to try and boost the speed of my pc. after I installed the processor I got a "no signal detected" on my monitor. I tried many things such as re seating my ram, re seating the processor, etc. I later figured that it could be my motherboard, so i bought a brand new one as well as new ddr3 corsair ram cards. I got everything in and plugged in correctly as i see. I plugged everything back into my computer and plugged the power cable back in, confidently thinking that it would have no problem and boot up perfectly. But no, I still get a "no signal detected" on my monitor. Please help!

I realized my problem... Like an idiot i didnt see that the processor requires discrete GPU, which means it does not have integrated graphics. I need a dedicated GPU. It will work if I install a graphics card. Sorry

1: this is only true for consumer motherbds. OEM's , like HP, can and do restrict which cpu's will work.
2: HP says its an AM2+ motherbd that supports:
  • Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt TDP)
Athlon64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt TDP)
    Athlon64 less than 4000+
    Sempron less than 3800+

And none of these have video built in; that wasn't invented yet.
Your motherbd does have a built in GPU: nVidia GeForce 6150SE
so it would not necessarily need a dedicated card to just boot up.
