Hey everyone i tried installing Dying Light and my FPS drops to like 30 ish when in the outside environment. My specs are:

i7 960 3.2Ghz stock
ASUS P6T SE Motherboard
6GB DDR3 RAM (Triple Channel)
AMD XFX R7970 3GB Graphics

I know some of these parts are a bit older, but would something like RAM and CPU really make a difference on a games FPS?

Thanks for the help.

Solution
The problem is dying light ,nothing more.
For starters it runs poorly on amd cards, the 7970 included + is badly badly optimised.
An haswell i7+gtx 980 suffers drops to the mid 40s so your performance I would deem absolutely normal.

I havent, my CPU currently runs at like 60-70 degrees on stock cooling while gaming. I currently dont have liquid cooling so i'm a bit worried about OCing. Would it be an issue with stock cooling?

Also how important would RAM be to a play a game. Say 6GB vs 8GB?

If you can add a second monitor, something small, and run task manager in that window while gaming. Watch the CPU usage and memory usage and see which tops out. I doubt it would be your memory, but it is possible. If your CPU is constantly above ~92% usage, your video cards are waiting on your CPU more often than not. If your memory hits about 95% usage while gaming, you need more memory. Most games, though, don't use more than a couple GB.

Ah, that would explain it better. Poor coding trumps speedy hardware.

Defintely going to look into that. Im planning to rebuild my rig mostly with a new case, couple of fans and extra ram. Overclock my CPU to around 4ghz and hopefully i should be good for another year or so.

Yeh CPU usage is a bit up there. Ill try to get it to 4 once i get better cooling.

I think youre absolutely right. This is probably the number 1 reason. I feel like a lot of people are having troubles with FPS. Poor port sadly. Hopefully the delay with GTA 5 means its a proper port.
