hi, I have an alienware m14xr2 with 64gb SSD and 750gb HDD. Not long ago my HDD has failed(sill trying to figure out how to recover data ), now i am confused if i should go for a sea gate 1TB hybrid drive($81) or a 256gb ssd, my budget is about $100 and as its an alienware, you might have already figured i play a lot of games and also web browsing, some multimedia stuff nothing more. so, what would you guys suggest?

Solution
Absolutely. If you can manage with just over 300 GB of space, then go for it.

About your OS installation...you should definitely install your OS on your 64gb SSD. I've never seen any version of Windows go past 40gb, so you have more than enough space. You can even put Windows on, and one or two of your smaller games. My Win8.1 with all updates is only 24gb.

well previously, the os was not on the ssd. Are you suggesting that I install my os on the 64gb ssd this time?
because since i play some demanding games i dont think 64gb will be enough for my os, applications and also atleast for a couple of games. what do you think?

Thanks for the response, but 500gb is really out of my reach right now. As you can already imagine my laptop just died and i need to get it back on as soon as possible. I cant wait to save money and invest in stuff. A 256GB(240) samsung evo is around $110 when i last checked, and also that is as far as i can push. I do have a 2tb usb 3.0 external drive for storage but I dont think its a realiable source to save my stuff(games, multimedia). Also can i put an other ssd in place of my hdd in my laptop? because i am not going to remove my 64gb ssd
