WinDirStat and Windows are showing about a 300gb difference in free space. Can anyone help?

WinDirStat and Windows are showing about a 300 GB difference in free space. Can anyone help?
I've ran the program a few times with the same results. I've ran it as an administrator, emptied the recycling bin, etc. Yet there is a large difference.

WinDirStat shows 444.5 GB used while Windows shows 770 GB used

Having the same issue I have win 10 and dir shows 672G used while windirstat shows 348G used. Seems every time I delete more big files off of the drive I end up with less space than I had before deletion. Just wondered if you have ever found a solution to your issue. I have been searching the internet for an answer and have tried everything I found so far. Have considered reformatting but if I don't know what occurred to cause this issue I have no way of insuring it won't happen again or that formatting will for sure correct issue. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!

Please start a new thread for your issue.
But look into System Restore points, and other system files.
