Wired connection to router kills net speed by 1/3?

I have a 100Mbps connection, just bought a new router that can handle the new speeds. It's got 10/100 ethernet and 300+300 wifi.

Problem is that when i plug into the router (all hardlined, we only use wifi for tablets etc), my speed is only approx 65Mbps instead of the solid 94Mbps I get if i'm just plugged straight into the modem.

My pc network card is 10/100/1000. Yes there are other people connected via LAN cables to router, but speed stays the same when i test it with just me plugged into it solo.

All speed data from speedtest.net and I understand the difference between MBps and Mbps, how they interact with one another, and how that pertains to internet speeds. No confusion there :)

Help?

The website is.. well.. a bit crap.. but as you can see in the filename of the .bin, this is the matching build for this router.

This website has a list of all builds in the '124' release. Check which revision of the E2500 you have and flash the corresponding firmware.

More flashing instructions

Actually, in responding to this, I found that my build is out of date.. and have just flashed the file I linked you

Sorry I can't be of more assistance, I used the stock firmware for less than a day

Oh sweet.. I've got the same one :D

I was on a 100M connection for a couple of months.. but never tried connecting directly to the modem, I could see most of it.. 90+

I'm using 'Tomato Version 1.28 by shibby' firmware, its solid and is full of features.

30/30/30 procedure

Alternatively, you can try turning off WMM in the QoS options page of the default firmware.

Tried both suggestions - the firmware didn't install and the webpage says the linksys e2500 isn't a supported model for that install, and WMM didn't make any difference in speed issues :(
