So as the title says I'm wondering about mismatching ram pairs. I currently have 8gb of patriot viper 3 Intel masters clocked at 2133 (although I'm only running them at 1333 currently) in dual channel in my mobo. I want to upgrade to 16gb because I regularly host servers, do graphic design, and music production so I can eat up my ram. It seems near impossible to find the matching ram for my current set so I need to get different ram.

If I get 8 gb of a different brand at a different speed will it affect performance significantly? I'm willing to sacrifice ram speed because speed isn't a big deal for me anyway. So is it a bad idea to get 8gb of 1600 or 1866 ram and put it dual channel in the other two slots?

My specs
mobo: gigabyte 990fxa-ud3
Cpu: amd fx 8350
Gpu: gigabyte Radeon hd 7870oc
Psu (can't think off the top of my head but it's 650w)
Ram: patriot viper 3 Intel masters 2133mhz

Sorry for the big paragraph
