Hey, I have a Segate 74GB ST380215A hard drive in which windows is installed. I bought a new hard drive which is WD Blue WD10EZEX 1 TB. Now I connected it to my pc and checked in bios and the hard drive is showing in it. Now when I checked Disk Management by right clicking My computer > Manage and vice versa.. but there no hard drive is showing up :( please suggest me what to do ? I am a normal student and don't have expertise knowledge about computers. I will attach a screenshot of what is showing up in Disk Management

Solution
Hey, I also experienced that problem last month ago, but I fixed it by using of WIPE A DISK CLEAN.
Note: All of your files in your second hard drive will be completely erase..

You will need to get to a command prompt.
GO TO A COMMAND PROMPT USING YOUR WIN 7 DVD
-Boot up from your Windows 7 DVD.
-At the first dialog window, press SHIFT + F10 key combo
-You will have a X:> command prompt
X: is a ram drive created by Windows 7.

Now you need to "clean" the disk. A clean all operation is going to write zeroes to each and every byte on the disk and can take a very long time.

You MUST wait for this operation to finish.

Now here's how to clean the disk:

WIPE A DISK CLEAN

· type List disk, Enter key

Now here's how to clean the disk:

WIPE A DISK CLEAN

· type DiskPart, Enter key
· type List disk, Enter key
note the numeral of the disk you want to clean
for example purposes, I’ll be using the numeral 2
· type Select disk 2, Enter key
· type Detail disk, Enter key
this info will let you know if you selected correctly
· type Clean ALL, Enter key
your entire disk is being overwritten with zeros.
This can take a considerable amount of time
· type EXIT, Enter key (only after Clean is finished)
· type EXIT, Enter key (this gets you back where you were)

Note: that in my 500gb hdd it takes around 3hours so be patience in "clean all" command..
Hope this can solve your problem...
Let me know what your question/ problem about this process and I'm willing to answer and help you.

Thanks for reply Richard David Esposo. But I am unable to understand that which of my drive will lose data during this process ? The one which has windows installed in it (Segate 74 GB) or the one which I have buyed new (WD 1TB) ?

The one which you purchased. Your new (WD 1TB)..
If you want you can remove your during (Segate 74 GB) before you perform WIPE DISK CLEAN.. for the of your data on (Segate 74 GB) HDD... I repeat that your new (WD 1TB) is the one that need to be clean/ it will lose data during this process.

Try another process:
Right click "My Computer"
Click "Manage"
Select "Disk Management"
Right click "Disk Management" and select "Re-scan Disks"
Find your drive in the list in the bottom pane
Right click it and select "Initialize"
Add a partition

This is another option if you doesn't find list disk and couldn't clean HDD.. Hope this can solve your problem...

If your HDD is brand new, you can contact your seller to replace your HDD with a new one.. (Warranty).. But if its not, try another SATA cable and be sure you properly insert the the power cable to your HDD and both SATA cable must properly inserted in your motherboard and HDD.
