I have a sony vaio pcv-RZ54g desktop tower that i would like to upgrade as much as i can for just streaming use only not gaming. These are what i would like to know what I can upgrade. please let me know what is the highest I can go.

SPECS ARE:

Operating System - windows 7 ultimate X86 (retail) w/SP 1

RAM - 1GB Ram DDR SDRAM, 400 MHz, PC3200, DIMM 184 Pin

CPU - intel(r) pentium(r) P4 3.2 Ghz w/hyper threading, Socket 478, 800 MHz

Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce
FX5200 w/TV-Out
128MB Video Memory (128-bit DDR)
TV-Out / VGA-Out / DVI-Out (DVI Output:
1280x1024x60Hz max.) 8X AGP 3D Graphics Hardware Acceleration Giga Pocket Engine MPEG2 Realtime Encoder/Decoder board with TV Tune

Audio - PCI slot 1 creative sound blaster audigy card.

Expansion Slots - 1 AGP slot, and 3 PCI slots

I would like to go better with the CPU, Graphics card, and RAM.

whats the highest processor I can go, that will be compatible

what is the best 8x AGP graphics card i can get that will work good and be able to stream nicely.

ram i think i can only go to 2GB MAX so no luck there (unless i can) i dont know!!

I know this computer is old and I should buy a new one, but this one works and i just want to use it for media.... im not a gamer so no need to go overboard.

Solution
That graphics card will work (although you are definitely going to have to update the drivers) also the processors you listed above will work but the best one is only 200Mhz faster than what you already have.
I'm sure there are upgrades that you can make, what I'm saying is for the amount of money you'll end up spending, I don't think your going to see to much of a difference because your not going to be able to get some upgraded feature sets.
If you really want to try it, I would recommend upgrading the RAM to whatever your max is, and reviews on newegg stated that upgrading to that graphics card you mentioned works on Win 7 with some tweaking. You may also want to look at this card because its supports Direct X 10.1...

Socket 478 is obsolete

AGP interface is obsolete

Unfortunately, you have almost no viable options for upgrading the relevant components.

P4's don't go much faster and your hard pressed to find a AGP video card that is worth anything, additionally, core architectures and upgraded features are what you would need to stream current content, not speed.

I had an old VIAO P4 that ran fine for a long time... but the P4s just cant hack it anymore

my lowest base score would be a 3.4 but the graphics score is 1.0 so that tells me that the graphics need to be upgraded... i see some cards that will fit, just want to know what card would be best to try.
there are no cpu's that i can upgrade to? there has to be something out there!!!
and ram i can add 1 more GB. with that all added, that has to bring up the quality of the computer!!
