I have an Asus ROG G750JM that came with a GTX 860M and Windows 8.1 that I bought last spring, and which has worked great for the most part until the last few days. After installing Dying Light, I was able to play for a while without any hardware related issues. However, the game crashed, gave a ResizeBuffers failed device removed error message, and would say that "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements to run this software". After this it, nor any other game, would run with my NVidia card. Forced a few games to start up with the onboard Intel card just to try and isolate the issue to the GPU; games ran fine but obviously with unplayable FPS.

Not sure of the exact order in which I did these first few things, but think that I first upgraded my NVidia driver through the GeForce Experience from something like (approximately) 347.02 to (exactly) 347.52. This seemed to solve the issue for awhile; however, the game crashed again after awhile. Also, BSODs happened at times. At this point I hadn't noticed that other games would not run either. Then I decided to downgrade to the NVidia driver 337.88, the latest driver listed on the manufacturer's website. This seemed to work for a while as well, but also eventually crashed. It was around this point I noticed that it was an overall GPU issue, and the card was not working at all after crashing (tried rebooting of course). I decided to reinstall to factory settings, backed up my schoolwork and the drivers I would need on an external hard drive, and the problem still occurs.

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Solution
Well Dying Light is like Assassins Creed Unity. It has its problems and needs todays latest and greatest hardware. Even with that people are still having issues. Try a different game that isn't as resource intensive and see if it works any better. But pc components are weird. Its like spilling coffee or water on your computer. Might work fine for a while but eventually it will fail. If the computer dropped while it was on and it is a mechanical hard drive, the drive might be going bad also. Check the system log in event viewer. Run what tests you can from Hirens bood cd.

First i would say to rule out system memory. Run a memtest which can be found on a hirens boot disk or a windows dvd. If that passes then more than likely the gfx card is fried. Find out if the computer is still under warranty and get it fixed. If your close to the end of the warranty just put a call in anyway so you can show you have an issue before it expires.

Doubt the warranty would apply as there is a little exterior damage from when my girlfriend accidentally knocked it off the couch. Think that would rule out "normal and proper use" as stated in my warranty. I know this could be the cause of the issue in the first place, but that was roughly 8 months ago and it has operated fine since. I guess it's possible that something shifted and the fans weren't at 100% and the card slowly fried?

But lets not jump to worst case scenarios, there has to be something I can try. Seems to me like something happened software related. I did use a graphics manager for Dying Light (not at first I think, after the crashing began) to reduce the settings to increase fps. Now that I think about it, I did use this program to increase the time the GPU would try and resolve a hang from 2 to 10 seconds. Did slow to a stutter and hang a few times with Dying Light. Maybe my card is dead.
