I have a corsair 400r case which has a firewire port and an Asrock z77 extreme4 mobo(doesnt have a firewire port) if that helps. I tried using the firewire port to no avail, after looking for a fix I noticed I dont even have a firewire port registered in the device manager on windows 8.1. When I plug something into the firewire port it reads it as an undetectable usb device. Any suggestions on what I should do or should I just by an expansion card?

The firewire port is on the front of the case with the usb ports.

Can't exactly see but there are two around 12 guage wires that come into 1 plug which is plugged into my usb header on my mobo or there is the connector for the audio header. I would guess its part of the two wires that gets plugged into my usb header .

There is only two connectors, I didn't build the case and I cant see where all the wires are connected. But as it seems, the firewire connectors is part of either the hd audio connector or the usb connector that gets plugged into the mobo.

Well then i guess i should sue corsair for false advertising. Like thats why I came here for help I literally have no clue but I can tell u every cable from the front of the case other than the two fans comes down to two connectors and are plugged into the motherboard.

The port on the case must be supported by the board. If the board supports FireWire, it will have a dedicated FireWire header. Most boards do not support FireWire out of the box these days, but you can purchase an add on card, if FireWire is something you need.
