Well just uprgraded my system with a sapphire R9 270X and new motherboard giga-byte 970a-ud3p just to find out I can't play the games I want with this set up. I currently have a phenom ii x4 955BE and 4GB of 1333 ram. The system plays dayz mod and dayz standalone like garbage very low FPS. I'm looking to play those games the most, a long with battlefield and probably GTA 5 when it comes out. It looks like I'm going to have to upgrade to a intel MB and CPU setup just to play these games. Or would the FX AMD processors be worth my time and money? I am looking to spend 200 on a new MB and CPU if I have to swap to Intel. I may spend more but my budget is really only around 200, of course I would perfer less is at all possible . Any suggestion are greatly appreciated, and a side note I don't plan on upgrading my GPU any time soon.

Those games need a fast single threaded performance so intel is the only way to go when talking about Dayz. BF and other games should work fine on an fx 6300 but not extraordinary.

Already having an am3+ mobo i honestly wouldn;t invest in a new mobo+cpu combo and i;d go with an fx 8320, disable 4 cores and overclock it as high as i can BUT that won;t do it for dayz if you want 60fps. So for 200 this is what i recommend.

This will get you higher fps than a 8320 in dayz but lower in most other new games. Keep in mind Dayz is badly optimized so its not such a good idea to buy a PC specifically for it

I already have a Cooler Master 212 EVO, and I just keep hearing nothing all over the internet but that Intel is the only processor to having for gaming. Plus I really like Day-z standalone and would like to be able to actually play it. But do you think just upgrading my processor to a FX-83 series would be a good spent upgrade and improve my game performance?

I have been looking at the pentium G3258 processor according to CPU Boss this processor has a rating of 7.7 vs the phenom 955 which is 6.9. The single core performance is MUCH better on the pentium with a rating of 9.3. Wouldn't even this processor be much better than mine? For 70 bucks I could overclock this dude to 4.5ish Ghz and be right on par with the suggested 4330? Correct me if i'm wrong.

g3258 is a dual core with no hyperthreading. Any game which requires 4 threads or more will simply refuse to run (at the time of writing - DA:i and FC4)

Upgrading to intel will require you buy an intel mobo while upgrading your amd cpu will only require you buy the cpu.

I realize that I wouldn't be able to play multi-core games, but i'm not interested in playing any of those games that require four cores. All the ones I like to play only use one or two cores. AMD apparently can not handle these games when it comes to single core performance. I'm wanting to get the intel parts as a solution to my issue at the moment, I can always upgrade to an i5 or even i7 in the future. For what I would spend on the FX processor I could get an intel cpu and motherboard, and be able to upgrade to much better components in the future. Where if I got the FX 8350 my upgrading would pretty much end with that processor.
