Hey there,

I'm having the problem that my PC runs pretty much every single game i try to run like super jittery/choppy even do i have a good ping aswell as decent/good fps.
I've tried pretty much everything. Changing GPU, CPU, MOBO, PSU, Peripherals, etc.
Nothing has helped in any way so far.
The weird thing about it is that games usualy run smoothly when being singleplayer but when it comes to multiplayers, the jittery/choppy feeling starts even tho my connection should be fine.
There's those days that it's kind of okay and then again there's those days when it's just below everything on which i recently realized that my ms seems to be higher in-game and some Packet-loss is coming along with it.

But then again i'm doing a Pingtest and i get this as result:

Could it be that i'm using a Lan Cable that's ~20m long is ? (Should be Cat. 5)

The system is scoring well in 3DMark and does not have any Latency spikes in LatencyMoon so i'm not guessing on any Hardware related problem at all anymore.

The general system specs are the following:

  • CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.7 Ghz
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H80i
    Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97-D3H
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
    RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB @ 1866MHz
    SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
    HDD: 2x 1TB, 1x 2TB (Storage only)
    Monitor: Acer gn246hlbbid (lightboost hacked)

Please don't mind my english, i'm obviously not a native speaker.
Thanks in advance for every answer!

Best regards,

Ever thought about your display/video cable?

If changing your GPU didn't solve the problem, I am thinking about software conflict or your display.

If you can, switch your cat5 cable with a replacement, however I really don't think it is the fault.

Don't think it's the display. Already tried another display with the same result. Should've mentioned that. Already changed the dvi cable though. Can't realy change the cable but could may consider if needed.

are the servers that your multiplayer games are connecting to anywhere near you in (scandinavia?)

You don't seem to have a hardware issue, and while a 20m ethernet cable isn't exactly ideal, it probably isn't the issue. If you like, could you try moving your computer closer to the router?

I could try that by tommorow. May you come by again tommorow somewhen in the evening ?

The servers i'm talking about are in Frankfurt (Germany) which is somewhat like ~200km from me

I run almost 100 foot of cat 5 and play online as well and I never have choppy or lag... To me the choppy or lag is the ISP your using what is the bandwith have you speed tested it in single player mode in any game you shouldn't have any issues.. In multiplayer depends on your ISP and the speed you are buying from them ... Internet is like a big pond more fish in it the slower it gets to move around...

the spec for your fritzbox says that the ethernet ports aren't Gigabit (they're 100Mbps) but that shouldn't be a problem since your internet connection doesn't exceed that speed. Just try it out, trying to eliminate sources of error here
