An old HP laptop. HP Pavilion dv6609wm Entertainment Notebook PC
Model: GS684UA

Tried going to HPs support website to find driver downloads, but site remains non-functional.

Tried searching devid.info for hardware ID, but the site cannot find them.

What is listed in Device Manager with yellow exclamation marks are as follows:

Multimedia Video Controller (PCI bus 2, device 5, function 0)
PCI Device (PCI bus 2, device 5, function 1)
PCI Device (PCI bus 2, device 5, function 2)
PCI Device (PCI bus 2, device 5, function 4)

Hardware IDs are as follows respectively:

PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0032&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_05
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0022&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_22
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0043&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_12
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0052&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_12

Now, the reason I assume this has something to do with my SD slot is because when I uninstall the drivers completely, and then insert my Sd card into the slot, the windows prompt, "Windows needs to install driver software for your PCI Device" shows up. The yellow exclamation mark in device manager shows up again. This prompt goes off 4 times, listing what I have above all over again.

I cannot find these drivers when I let windows search for them.

Please, help.

Thanks. I figured it out. Turns out through all of that searching and searching. I was using the wrong browser. I never even thought to do that for some reason. The site shows up now that I switched to firefox. IE and Chrome (what I originally used) didnt work for some reason. In IE the buttons werent clickable.

Thanks. Finally!

False alarm :/...

It still shows the same exact problems after restarting my computer. Sd card still not recognized... wow

Not sure if I should open up a new thread or not...

Release details
Released:
2007-11-08
File name:
sp37726.exe [1/1, 2.87M]
Version
3.51.01 A
Compatibility:
Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

I assumed this means both are supported?

Yeah, that's correct.

I would try using something like Driver Sweeper (http://www.guru3d.com/content-page/guru3d-driver-sweeper.html) to remove the driver (if it's installed) followed by CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download) to remove any remnants. Reboot and try installing the driver again.

There's also the possibility that the yellow triangle is for some other component of your computer. The phrase "Multimedia Video Controller" seems to point to something dealing with the graphics, not necessarily your card reader.

ok. weird thing just happened. just resumed my laptop from sleep mode and this shows up:

"ricoh memory stick device"
Under disk drives. No yellow exclamation mark there. The yellow exclamation marks are still on the 4 PCi devices I have listed above though. Strange.

It is listed as a removable "G" drive. This is progress because it never even showed up before! When i click on "G" it says please insert memory stick into drive?

Tried the DDU suggestion and that also did not work. I also used CCleaner as well. As soon as I restarted my computer, whether it was in safe mode or not, the same windows pop up came up.

Just did a bit more research and it seems for others who had this issue, this meant their motherboard was going?

This is a fairly old laptop, so I wouldn't doubt it. This would also explain how the issue just came out of nowhere recently.

**Another thing to note is that one day, I turned my laptop on and all service packs (1 and 2) were gone. Windows attempted to try to install service packs, but it kept failing and failing. I ended up having to manually install the service packs and that is around the time these issues popped up.

Very strange. I couldnt roll back anything. No restore points ...etc..
