i have been getting issues with booting my pc, sometimes it will boot and others it boots but i get black screens and mobo beeps indicating no graphics card installed. everything was installed correctly and i went through toms boot check list when i built my pc ,which i built it about a week ago, ive already replaced the power supply once thinking it was a faulty power supply but same issue even with the new one. nothing is overclocked i left everything in stock settings. my question is if anyone else has encountered this problem and has found a solution?

UPDATE
so i might have found a solution. i have those long extended ports for power where i had my computer connected to. it might not have been letting enough power go through because every slot on my power extender is taken. so all i did was connect my computer directly onto the wall outlet and it seemed to have solved my problem. I will update after more tests

UPDATE
So that was not the issue. I tested other cards on my PC and all of them worked fine, in all slots. And also tested the power strip see if it was the problem, it was not. The problem was the card. It is a faulty card and was not working properly. I have already contacted Amazon and they are sendingn a replacement. XFX support was no help when I told them about my issue they insisted it was my power supply and not the card and took 4 days to reply back. So I contacted Amazon instead and they are sending a new one out and I already sent the faulty one back. I'll update when I get the new one in.

UPDATE
so after more testing with not only the new card that arrived, but multiple different cards i would get the same error again after the first install. so ended up RMAing my mobo. I installed the mobo yesterday(02-18-2015) and was able to boot every time with my new card and other cards as well. so the problem was my mobo the whole time. pcie slots were probably bad.

The R9 280X is an interesting card... but they do have many problems. I ordered a Gigabyte model about a month ago from Newegg... worked fine for the first 3 days... then starting giving me weird lines and crashing my computer every once in a while. Gigabyte responded back to me after nearly a week and told me to just change the cable. I said, "forget that".. RMA'd that thing while I still had the return warranty with Newegg and they sent me a new card.. So far haven't had any issues with it.

But for some reason... there are a lot of bad 280X's out there... and I've read about problems with cards from many different manufacturers.... possibly because of it's stock overclockness.. Just keep your eye on your card.

Oh...

Oh... and watch out for XFX cards. They're OK... but their customer service isn't all too friendly at times. I remember when I bought one of their cards about 5 years ago.. it came with a $30 rebate. I ordered the card like 2 hours before the rebate program ended at midnight one day... and when I sent XFX the rebate forms and receipt... they denied my rebate.. the card was shipped by Newegg the next day after I ordered... and the invoice I sent XFX said that... and XFX didn't see where I had ordered the card at 10pm (before midnight). I tried to explain that to them.. but they didn't care and ignored me.... that told me they're just another company looking for a quick excuse not to honor a rebate.. so after that fiasco I told myself I wouldn't buy any more XFX cards.

Hey SBMfromLA, I'm sorry you had issues 5 years ago with the rebate company. the rebate company we use for Newegg is 4myrebate.com, a sole entity, not XFX. If you have rebate issues, always contact the company that is offering the rebate, (like XFX), and give them your rebate tracking #. With that tracking #, I can force any rebate to go through in minutes by calling my rep at 4myrebate.com.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the info... However, I did contact XFX directly... and gave (or sent) them the invoice from Newegg again... and I CIRCLED the date of my purchase and the TIME of my purchase with a red marker and informed them of the error... and their response was to ignore me. XFX makes decent cards... but they aren't great at honoring rebates.
