New HDD new to make new HDD my primary as far as boot,crash dump,page file

i bought a 1tb hdd today and installed it after a successful clone of all file i am left with my old 6 year old hdd as my main hd with boot and crash dump page file. ect i need to make my new hdd the main i belive its in the bios or something but cant find anything on the web specific to my question plz help thanks in advance

both HDD are WD i used the supplied software to clone HDD the new HDD is primary but that is all its not boot or my main one

did you leave the old hdd in the first sata port on the board it is the new hdd that should be plug in that slot .

actually the origional hdd was the only one i had and it was in the second sata slot i just noticed? will it be bad if i switch the sata cords now?

does the original is seen as c drive so unplug it and use the new one in the 1 sata slot to see if system will get it as c main drive do the switch power off .

ok so i checked and the new HDD was in the sata 1 slot and the old was is in and always has been in slot 2 the hdd in slot 2 is the old one and is under the local C drive the new one is under the F drive both local but i want to format the old one so i can use it for emergency storage should i just remove the old one so the pc boots with the new drive? will that work?

i just found out i can change the letter path in the computer management if i change the old to b and change the new to c would that work or is that just for looks

you could try this one http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm but unplug the old first so the new will be detect as main c drive the replug it back and format , do you have a external usb case so you could boot with the new drive in computer as c drive and put the old on in external to format it .
