I picked out all of the parts for my first build, although its quite a bit over budget of $500.
What can I change to bring it closer to $500? I dont plan on changing the cpu or gpu.

I was planning on changing the hard drive to a 500gb, but its only a small price difference.

Yeah I noticed the case, but wasn't sure what to replace it with. So I might use what you suggested. The ram I chose was faster because I actually had a combo with the psu and it came out $11 cheaper.
