Is the Windows 8.1 Firewall good enough ?

Hey guys so i just had a quick question do you guys think the windows 8.1 firewall is good enough for keeping out viruses for example if you scan for viruses that it will check everything and terminate it ? Because i scanned for it and nothing popped up (i did not use the quick virus scan) or do you guys think i should get like the AVG free antivirus let me know ! And thanks in enhance

The Windows 8 firewall does not protect against viruses, no firewall does. That's not what a firewall is for.
Windows Defender does that job:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-firewall-from-start-to-finish

The only free antivirus softwares I can recommend is either Avast or Comodo, as AVG on some systems can have an adverse affect on the time it takes for Windows to start up. That's certainly true of some Windows 7 systems anyhow as I have discovered for myself.
