When Bios starts up, main page says 8GB installed, but Dimm option in Bios shows all 4 x 4GB Dimms. CPU Z Says 16384 MBytes. Task manager says 8GB Available. Boot Advanced Options is unchecked. Ran Window's Memory Diagnostics for 3 hours (Extended). Speccy says 16 GB Single Channel, but should be Dual, right?

I realize that many folks have answered similar questions, but responses marked "Solution" haven't worked for me.

CPU is new, when I first installed it, I remember seeing 16GB recognized. I've stress tested this thing using Prime95 for hours without issue. Wouldn't a bent/broken pin cause any issues? The system operates flawlessly, with the exception of the memory being recognized incorrectly. Also, I just reinstalled the OS with MB Drivers/Windows Updates and didn't change anything. The memory is on the QVL for the MB as well. The only thing I've done recently was added a 2nd GPU (Same model as the other one). CPU Cooler is mounted flush, if not this 220W TDP would be overheating for sure.

Another idea: I updated my system BIOS to the latest version on ASUS's website for the MB shortly after I installed it. Could it be possible that the new BIOS version is causing the issue? Only problem is I am not sure what BIOS I had prior, and I've never used the flashback tool or anything like that...

SiSoftware Sandra:

Total Memory 7.9 GB DIMM DDR3
Memory Controller: AMD F15 (Orochi) CPU HT Hub 2x 1.1GHz (2.2GHz), 2x 4GB DIMM DDR3 1.87GHz 128-bit
Memory Module(s):
Corsair CMD8GX3M2A1866C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-14200U DDR3-1778 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5)
Corsair CMD8GX3M2A1866C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-14200U DDR3-1778 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5)
Corsair CMD8GX3M2A1866C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-14200U DDR3-1778 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5)
Corsair CMD8GX3M2A1866C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-14200U DDR3-1778 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5)

So it sees the 4 sticks, but won't run in Dual Mode. My inclination is the MB is bad or Memory Controller is bad.....

This is what ASUS Support says:

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

I understand that your Bios Says 8GB of RAM instead of 16GB memory.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and it would be my pleasure to assist you in resolving this issue.

Kindly be informed that if you are using a Graphic card with lesser memory, then it will take the memory for its performance from the RAM memory.

Please use the case Number N150250012 for future reference.

If you still need assistance, Kindly reply to this email so we can assist you better.

Thank you very much.

I think it's a load of crap. I had a Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 in it before, everything else equal and didn't have this issue...

Well, I may be on to something. I installed each DIMM into A2 (A1,A2,B1,B2) and they all failed (Error 50). Put them into A1 and system booted fine. So my suspicion of the MB being bad is pretty much confirmed. Agree?

I loaded system/bios defaults. I have 2 x 4GB DIMM's in A1,B1. Windows runs fine, but I'm having trouble passing Prime95 after about 10 minutes. Temps are between 45-50C, spiking to 60C during some portion of the test. This led me to tear down my machine. Pulled CPU out, inspected it: No bent pins, no broken pins, nothing. Reinstalled everything. Prime95 still freezing CPU. Now, I realize a MB could cause this, but I'm starting to lean towards the CPU. I've already initiated an RMA for the MB. I wish I had my old 8350 sitting around to swap out. I think that's the only way to test this.....

I'll give that a try. Bumped it from 1.5375 to 1.55, and I'll keep stepping it up until I reach heat or voltage limits.

I've been getting a bunch of AI Suite II readings that are outrageous, like DRAM Voltage at 14.2....I think the MB is on the way out. If I'm way off base here, let me know....
