Hey all,
So here it is in short, I'm running 3 GTX 980s SLI and the top card is taking the heat hard. Not too ridiculous, but enough to the point where if you let all 3 get to 100% usage that top card gets to 85 eventually.
Anyways, I figured before I invest in water, I'd like to try and give fans the best try I can. I'm only using stock fans so some modifications may get those temps right where I want them.
So I have a 500R case. It has an exhaust in the top back, a 200mm side intake fan, 2 120mm intake fans in front of the drives, and I am using the h100i cooler on top and to be honest I really am not sure whether or not they are now exhausting or intaking.
So here are my plans:
1. I'd like to swap out my 200m side fan with 2 140mm high quality fans. The 200mm kind of misses the top GPU so I think that it may help.
2. I'm removing the drive cage and I'm on the fence as to whether or not it would be worth it to add a 120mm fan where the drive cage used to be facing the GPUs (Reason being, there are already 2 fans blowing towards the drive cage)
3. Add a 120mm fan to the right of the PSU blowing up. I'm thinking this may help with the air coming from the bottom of the gpu which is heating the top, maybe it will cool it off a bit? Not sure.

I need 2 things. I need recommendations for what the best 140mm/120mm fans would be, and then also, is there a way to power them using a molex cable? Because of how my GPUs sit I can't really access any more fan ports. Is there an adapter I can get?
