Help finding a better processor before switching to intel

I am looking for a better CPU before deciding to intel. I currently have a AMD FX(tm) 6200 with 3.8 GHZ and my motherboard can withhold 140 watts

An FX 8730E would be your best choice if there is a BIOS for your motherboard that supports it. Check the manufacturer's site for CPU support. Update the BIOS if there is one that supports that CPU then swap CPUs.

how would i check if theres an update for the bois? ive never had to update that before

Google the motherboard you have. That should point you to the manufacturer's website. There will be a CPU support list under the support options (for most motherboards). Verify that the FX 8730E is supported. If so then note the BIOS version (probably the latest). Download the latest BIOS and read the instructions on the manufacturer's website on how to update your BIOS.
