Mass effect 3: Tali or Liara

I am at the crucial point at the beginning of Mass effect 3 where you have to choose over liara or Your other interest (Tali). I really preferred Tali over Liara in previous games, but I heard that the story with Liara much better, me, being a shtick for a good story/romance, is her story that much superior?

I think the canon romance in the Mass Effect trilogy is a male Shepard with Liara.

I never really liked Tali. I always felt she had ulterior motives, to everything. Liara on the other hand is strong and adorable and fierce and friendly.
