Before you read, know this. This is a several year old computer, a Gateway NV55S laptop, and I have none of the booklets, cds, or anything else, as I was given this by my cousin, who threw out everything once he got a new desktop. So my questions are as follows.

1. What is the maximum amount of ram I could put into this computer per slot? I wanted to upgrade to 8 or possibly 16 gb of ram but didnt know how much ddr3l to get, or how much per slot it could support.

2. My wireless doesnt want to stay connect. Rather than buy a 50 foot wireless cable and run it through my house, what should I look at to troubleshoot the problem?

You need to ask yourself why you are upgrading the RAM. Open the task manager and check your memory usage. Are you maxing it out frequently?

As for the wireless not working, I would agree to get a USB wireless adapter. You can try downloading the driver from the company's website, and reinstalling it, but if the wireless card itself isn't working, you'll need to get an external wireless adapter. You'd probably be okay with an Edimax wifi dongle. It's small enough to plug it in and forget about it.

Sorry for the late response, but yeah, im actually using about 90% of my ram at all times. It's rediculous, and i even downloaded process hacker 2 in order to get a closer look. Solved a bit of it, as CCC was taking up about 2 gb of ram, but i ended up still using up around 80-90% somehow. Im planning on doing another full reset soon, as well as upgrading my ram from 4 to 8gb, due to the age.
