When I'm playing any type of media in any program I get these 1 second/2 second long glitch where the sound and video of the media I'm watching freezes - this causes a loud buzzing sound through the speakers and the whole video stops then goes back to normal. This happens once every 30-50 seconds, more or less, and it's getting very annoying. This happens whether I'm on Youtube or a media program on my laptop. This sound glitch/ screen freeze also happens when I'm playing games, for example League, and my fps drops when the audio glitches and my screen freezes then goes back to normal. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110, Early 2011). Someone please help!

I had this exact same problem which started on Sat 14/2/2015 on a Dell laptop with Windows 7. I ran hardware diagnostics and no faults found. I then noticed a Windows Update had been done earlier that day and used System Restore to 'rewind' to Friday before the update. This immediately cured the poblem and I turned Automatic Updates off. Now searching for anyone else with the problem and a better solution, hence I found your post.

I have a question... do you know which update(s) caused the problem. I also have a Dell Laptop, an XPS with realtek audio and a nvidia card. Freezing/buzzing started in Feb 2015. I have seen all sorts of "cures", none of which worked for me.
