Indeed, however this option leaves him with an upgrade path. He could swap the pentium out for a 4690K/4790K, in time, if he wanted to. The Pentium when given a moderate overclock will outperform the i3 in many games. With Intels insanely fast IPC and Hyperthreading it essentially acts like quad core. Wicked fast. The i3 would perform well across the board, much better multi-threaded performance. But limiting yourself to a chipset that would provide very few worthwhile upgrade options in the months/year to come wouldn't be the best way to spend his moneu
