Switch from At&t prepaid to Verizon Prepaid and keep number with unlocked phone

I currently have an unlocked Moto X 2nd gen. that I bought from Motorola. I am currently on AT&t's prepaid plan for my phone. I want to switch to Verizon's prepaid plans. Would I be able to do this while keeping my number?

I believe the answer is no as ATT uses GSM while Verizon uses CDMA network. This means your Moto phone won't work on Verizon.(different hardware)
